Queens in August

A broken boardwalk, dark sand,
empty seashells, shattered glass,
dead horseshoe crabs,
sand fleas, candy wrappers,
murky water, a one eyed pigeon,
no lifeguards on duty signs,
tons of seaweed, charcoal, a dead June bug
burnt bamboo paper laying on a rock,
empty glass coke bottles filled with sand,
a stray dog doing his duties,
a broken fishing rod, dead fish,
a wrinkled beach ball,
an arm-less Barbie,
a child’s handprints in the sand,
a sand castle.
